Karen's Comments

Dear AFWOA Member,

It's time for an update about the reunion planning for Charleston this September. Unfortunately, we have run into several insurmountable problems with the hotel, transportation, and no on-scene contacts within AFWOA. In addition, there are several schedule conflicts with other activities our members regularly attend. Therefore, the Board of Directors regretfully decided to cancel the reunion in Charleston. We're looking for another location and welcome suggestions from you. If someone wishes to take on the reunion for this year, we can still have one in 2002; otherwise, we will have to delay it until next year.

I am encouraged by the response to the dues. Our directory was not sponsored this year, so we had to pay the full cost. As a result, our treasury was down to our last $100 until the dues started coming in. If you haven't sent yours in yet, please send a check for $10 for this year's dues.

A correction to our directory of January 2002: The AFWOA web page is at www.afwoa.org.

We are members of The Military Coalition now. Three of our Washington area members, Anne Farrer, Rosalyn Knapp and Liz Bustamante have combined their talents and efforts to represent AFWOA at Coalition meetings. We sincerely appreciate their willingness to do this. Membership in The Coalition is an important step toward moving AFWOA toward a more proactive stance.

Karen
