Dear Member,

      Bienvenido. Welcome to San Antonio, a city bubbling with all the unique ingredients needed to make a perfect site for our 2003 Conference/Reunion, November 7-9. We plan another fun-filled time to meet and greet our friends. We selected the dates to coincide with the city’s Celebration of America’s Military (CAM), which is an 11-day celebration starting November 1. Some events are before our gathering, but you are certainly welcome to come early and celebrate America’s military with the city. A discussion of all the CAM events is included with this registration packet. We also have lined up some exciting seminars for Saturday, November 8.

      Starting with our last gathering in 2000, we changed the name from “Reunion” to “Conference/Reunion.” And we’ve added to the seminars in response to requests for additional topics. Because we are new, improved and expanded, we meet the requirements of AFI 36-3003 that allows our active duty women to use Permissive TDY to attend.

      HOTEL: The hub of our activities is our hotel The Adam’s Mark Hotel, 111 Pecan Street East, San Antonio, Texas 78205. It is located on the Riverwalk at Soledad Plaza in downtown San Antonio. We have some excellent rates available for three days prior to conference/reunion and three days after. Rates are $91, single/double occupancy; $116 triple/quadruple occupancy. Please make your reservations as soon as possible but please note the deadline is October 22, 2003 – after which our reserved block of rooms will be released to the hotel. Reservations made after that date will be subject to room availability and at the hotel’s rate at the time. Please make your hotel reservations directly with the hotel at: 1-800-444-ADAM (2326). The San Antonio number is 210-354-2800. Reservations can also be made online at www.adamsmark.com. Identify yourself as being with the Air Force Women Officers Associated. Check-in is 3:00 p.m. When checking in, please provide a copy of the Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate that you have signed (form is included in this registration packet.) All official events, except the tour at Brooks City Base, will be held in the hotel.

      Directions to the Hotel: The Adam’s Mark Hotel is eight miles from San Antonio International Airport. If flying in, you can take a taxi or the Take Highway 281 South to I-35 South, exit Main Street heading south, left at Pecan Street. The hotel is located off Soledad between Pecan and East Martin. Parking at the Self-Parking garage is $5.00 per vehicle per day; valet parking is $14.

      REGISTRATION: Please register as early as you can, but not later than October 7. For members in the San Antonio area, the registration fee is waived if you do not attend more than two events. Complete the Registration Form included with this packet and send the top copy to Ellen Staley to arrive by October 7. Keep the second copy for your files.

      CONFERENCE/REUNION CHECK-IN: After checking in with the hotel and dropping your luggage in your room, visit us in the Hospitality Suite – the Governor’s Suite – where we’ll give you your registration packet and any other update information about our events.

      HOSPITALITY SUITE: The hub of our conference/reunion activities, the Governor’s Suite, home for our Hospitality Suite, will generally be open at noon on Thursday, November 6 through 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9. However, it will close during official functions at the hotel, and a few hours late at night and early morning. Conference/Reunion check-in will be in the Hospitality Suite.

      EARLY ARRIVALS: If you come in on Thursday, there’s a host of things to keep you busy. You can hop on a trolley – just a few short blocks from the hotel – and tour the city on your own. . . Sight-see the many attractions unique to San Antonio. . .Tour the historic King William District. . .Participate in the city’s Celebration of America’s Military. . .or visit the hospitality suite for a while.
