Nov. 1 - Nov. 11: San Antonio’s Celebration of America’s Military (CAM)

The schedule of events for the CAM are on the reverse side of this page.

Nov. 1 - Nov. 11: San Antonio’s Celebration of America’s Military (CAM)

The CAM is San Antonio’s way of recognizing the long history and contributions of the military to San Antonio. The 11-day celebration starts November 1 and ends on Veterans Day, November 11th. Having our Conference/Reunion coincide with these events gives us the chance to participate in the celebration. This celebration will enhance our Conference/Reunion and make our time together more eventful.

Here’s the schedule of CAM events:

Nov. 1 (Saturday): Air show at Randolph AFB.

Nov. 3 (Monday): Opening ceremonies at the Alamo.

Nov. 4 (Tuesday): CAM golf tournament. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if we could pull together an AFWOA-sponsored team or two combined with active duty military women? Karen Rankin is a designated refreshment truck driver or Hole-in-One watcher, so she will be there cheering the group on.

Nov. 5 (Wednesday): The San Antonio Downtown Rotary, the world’s largest Rotary, hosts the Commanders luncheon. Again, here’s an opportunity to have an AFWOA table with visiting AFWOA Rotarians and sponsoring one or two of our local women commanders.

Nov. 6 (Thursday): The Air Force Association sponsors a “combat breakfast” which this year will honor enlisted flyers as a part of the Centennial of Flight commemoration. Thursday night is also the big evening event, which occurs in the La Villita Assembly Hall, which is in the center of downtown San Antonio.

Nov. 7 (Friday): The Association of the United States Army sponsors a luncheon at Ft. Sam Houston.

Nov. 8 (Saturday): The annual Veteran’s Day parade. Wouldn’t it be nice to see an AFWOA HumVee or Float with a nice cross-section of our members participating in the parade.

Nov. 11 (Tuesday): The Celebration concludes with the laying of the memorial wreaths at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery
